I've noticed lately that many people want to start their own business. That's great. However, to start a business you need to have a character and a business idea. Also, it is important to do a research on your potential customers or clients? Who are they? Where do they live? What is your business idea about? If you've decided to start another courier company or website design business, how will your business be a different from hundreds of other businesses in your area or in that industry? How will you market your business? Then you need to figure out where you're going to operate? Is it going to be an Internet business or bricks and mortar business? Also, very important how easy to enter an industry where you want your business to be? If it is easy, then most likely you will compete on price. Do you see how many questions?
Nowadays it is difficult to come up with some unique business idea. Unless, you are a great inventor and had created some new technological break through and you will potentially sell your business to some gigantic company for millions of dollars. If you want to open a business and be the one out of hundreds similar businesses , you will succeed only if you are in an industry that experiences high demand . For example, construction industry now. Try to call for an electrician or plumber or build something in your house. It might take you days, before you find someone. Similar situation is in the Real Estate industry in some areas. Although, this high demand is cyclical. Tomorrow an industry might experience a stagnation
Furthermore, don't count on some miracles that will happen to your business. You need an idea and a solid business plan. Otherwise, you will be greatly disappointed with your business growth and your income. Also, I would suggest to gain a practical experience in management, marketing and sales. At the beginning, most likely you will need as much knowledge in those areas as possible. Lastly, do you have a stamina to experience slow growth, long hours and lack of personal time? Is it OK with your family, that you will spend less time with them?
Before you jump on bandwagon of business ownership consider many different facts about your future business. Good luck!
