Many people, when turning 50, start to evaluate their lives, achievements, mistakes, and so on. It is the so-called middle of the life analysis. I would say that 50 is the highest point in life. A person customarily received an education, gained experience in life and career, and achieved so-called wisdom. Some people can be retired and live happy lives full of positive emotions, exciting hobbies, vacations, and trips. They are the lucky ones.
The vast majority still struggle to understand their purpose in life and find a suitable career that would excite them and give them financial rewards.
How to find a purpose in life and career? It is million dollar question.
On the Internet, you can find many blogs regarding this challenging subject. Some bloggers advise meditating and finding an answer in the subconscious mind. Other bloggers recommend making a list of your hobbies and favorite classes in college. Some even recommend going to college and receiving an education. It can work for some people, but what if your subconscious is quiet or a college education puts you in debt instead of helping you? What to do then? I am sure many people have this dilemma. You feel you need to change your life but don't know how. First of all, use the wisdom that you gained. Even if you decide to get some education, don't go overboard. Your education should be on a budget because the chances of finding your dream job get grimier. Let's face it, an appointment with a similar salary earned 20 years ago doesn't satisfy you. Once again, some people are luckier because they have a network of friends and relatives who can help to get a dream job, but what if you don't have such a network?
My recommendation for 50+ people is to find a small business. I understand that an established business or franchise can cost a fortune and be unaffordable for many. Try something small and part-time. Your business should provide some service or produce something you like—for example, baking cakes or taking care of house plants and pets. Don't start something you read on the Internet because many others will also try it. Your business idea should be unique. In the beginning, you will need a business plan. Based on your project, you need to create a strategy. Don't get discouraged if something doesn't work out as you wanted. Stick up to your plan. If you feel inspired, you are on the right track. You can read books on sales to sharpen your skills or on marketing to create a proper strategy for your businesses. Trust me; good business books can help you more than some training program in college.
